Early morning sun parts the curtains
Light descending onto your face
You sleep soundly beneath your halo
An image of perfection in this unfamiliar place

I lie beside you in the half-light

This south-western autumn air
Is playing havoc with my mind
My judgement's clouded by the mists upon the lakeside
Am I seeing what's not there

This stolen kiss breaks the hold of slumber
